John Irving and Ensemble DeNote

We have two wonderful discs featuring the players of Ensemble DeNote, founded by John Irving (fortepiano) and his wife, the clarinetist Jane Booth.

Mozart Chamber Music Volume One, feauturing the Sonata for Piano and Violin in B flat, K.454, the Trio for Clarinet, Viola and Piano in E flat (‘Kegelstatt’), K.498 and the brooding Piano Quartet in G minor, K.478, was followed by Volume Two, which contains the Duo no.1 for Violin and Viola in G, K.423 and the Grand Quintetto, after Gran’ Partita for 13 Winds, K.361 arranged by C. F. G. Schwencke (1805)

John Irving himself has recorded a very fine disc of Haydn Sonatas on a reproduction of a fortepiano after Stein by Johannes Secker
